When I was a little boy, preachers walked us around in the shoes of Moses and Elijah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel.
They showed us how to imagine feelings and wrinkles hidden in those brief accounts. We had permission to look at the text and think, perchance to daydream.
So, how would it work for Elijah to be “subject to like passions as we are”?1James 5:17 It might be a fun story if I could learn to write. So I asked writers at Word Weavers, International and American Christian Fiction Writers to critique my writing. These generous authors helped me draft the scenes.
I hope this story encourages you to look at the Bible and think, maybe even dream about how the Lord uses normal, everyday people — those in your family.
