Died how?

2 Chronicles 21:12 – Letter from Elijah:

King Jeroham,

The Lord, the God of your father David, says, “You have gone far out of the path travelled by King Jehoshaphat and King Asa. You have put your feet in the footsteps of the kings of Israel. Just like your father-in-law, Ahab, made whoremongers of the Israelis, you have made whoring popular in Judah, even in Jerusalem.

Besides this, you murdered men better than you ─ your own brothers, sons of your father.

Now I will strike your nation, your sons, your wives ─ everything that is yours ─ including your bowels. I’m sending you a lingering disease of day-and-night pain while your bowels exit your body.”

Elijah the Tishbite

“And after all this the Lord struck him in his bowels with an incurable disease. In the course of time, at the end of two years, his bowels came out because of the disease, and he died in great agony.” -2 Chronicles 21:18-19

Story Time with Nurse Vickie

After dinner in the conference room, Nurse Vickie tells a not very nice story about the modern medical diagnoses of the gruesome death which Elijah predicted for King Jehoram.

This is just a guess, but maybe one of two things.  It could have been colon cancer that progressed to the very end.  Or maybe an infection from a ruptured appendix?

Chronic Diarrhea – Kari Conklin

OK, here’s my guess: he had a severe hernia.

He also had a sick soul.  We all are going to die.  Better to live for the Lord while we may.  He can heal our soul and our body.

A horrible story I read was about a white man who had been captured by the Indians in the early European forays into what became the USA:  They cut open his belly and looped his bowels around a pole, and let him exist in that condition until he finally died.  This was somewhere in the Midwest.
