Day 1. Fly to Israel

Right in line with international regulations, we arrive at our airport gate three hours prior to departure, pass security inspection, and board our flight.

Ben Gurion Airport Arrivals Hall

Ben Gurion Airport Arrivals Hall

We move our watch to Jerusalem Time, and our plane carries us through the night to Ben Gurion Airport, Tel Aviv, Israel.

We drift off to sleep on the plane while humming “These are the days of Elijah¬†declaring the word of the Lord!”

      Good talking with you, Lindell!
      1. Where do we stay?

No, we won’t have to sleep on Gary’s friend’s couch in Jerusalem. But I do want to meet his friend!

About 3 weeks ago I called Rob and had him show me where we spend the nights. He’s used to dealing with old guys, plus I’m his uncle, so he was patient with me. Here’s that story:

      1st night flying to Israel
3 nights in the Jerusalem Leonardo
3 nights in Biblical Tamar Park
3 nights in the Sea of Galilee Leonardo
      11th night flying home
12th day flying home — that night at home

      2. What meals are included?

Our breakfasts and dinners are paid for. But our lunches are not.

That’s because so many people prefer not to eat lunch when travelling. But we make sure we’re near a good restaurant during lunch time each day, for people like me, who do eat lunch.

      I really like Israeli food!

What airline are we leaving on and from what city do we catch the flight?

    • Dave Parks June 13, 2017 at 4:07 PM #

So glad you called, Lindell! Vickie and I really hope you and Pete can bring Gary and Renee with you!

      About airlines —

Each person chooses the best airline from Albuquerque or Guangzhou or Chicago or London.

Get a flight that lands in Tel Aviv in the early afternoon of February 12 — to get on the 5 pm Blossoming Rose bus to the Jerusalem Leonardo Hotel (not the Plaza).

I googled “cheap flight from Albuquerque to Tel Aviv” and see $787, $810, $898, $1,437, etc.
