Did they eat pickles in Ancient Samaria?
They had cucumbers.
- Numbers 11:5 “We remember … the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks…”
- Isaiah 1:8 “Like a watchman’s hut in a cucumber field ….”
Some people think the ancient Egyptians ate pickles. They say Cleopatra attributed part of her beauty to pickles and Aristotle praised the healing effects of pickles.
But did you ever see Cleopatra or Aristotle chomping down on a pickled anything?
Nevertheless, I decided to let Abdel’s wife have pickles. So, when she was carrying her first two babies, she ate a pickle a day. And when her third baby dropped into position, she ate the very last pickle in the house. Nobody knows for sure what she did with the juice.
I sent Abdel out with the empty jar, so he could bring her more pickles. I wasn’t sure what his pickle jar looked like, but I thought this design we saw so often in China might work in Samaria.
Who is Abdel? Stick around…
